INVENTORY EDITOR What can the Stardew Valley inventory editor change?
The Stardew Valley inventory editor is designed for a focused change. Make a copy of your farm, import that copy, choose a slot and edit recognized item data through the workbench. It is useful when you need to repair a lost tool, restore a stack, test an item or review equipment without searching through raw save XML.
The input is the main farm save file, not only the smaller SaveGameInfo companion file. The output is a downloadable copy created after the browser serializes the edited data. A missing control usually means the current proxy model does not expose that item or that the value is not valid for the selected slot.
Inventory editor tasks
🧱
Item identityChoose or inspect supported items by name when the imported item data is recognized by the editor.📦
Stack quantityAdjust quantities for supported stackable objects within the input limits shown by the workspace.🛡️
Equipment slotsReview tools, weapons, rings, boots or other slot-aware items when their types match the slot. WORKFLOW NOTES How to use the Stardew Valley inventory editor
1Back up
Copy the complete save folder and keep the untouched original somewhere separate.
2Choose the file
Select the farm save file, not only SaveGameInfo, and wait for validation to finish.
3Open inventory
Use the editor navigation to open the inventory screen and review current values.
4Download a copy
Use the save button, preserve the filename and test the downloaded file before replacing anything.
INVENTORY CONTROLS Inventory changes supported by the Stardew Valley inventory editor
Item detailsInspect quality, metadata and related values when the imported item exposes those fields.
Slot validationKeep tools, weapons, rings, boots and other objects in a slot that accepts their item type.
Safe quantitiesUse reasonable values and keep the original stack size written down before you export.
Recognized dataMod-specific or malformed item data may be unavailable and should not be guessed.
This makes the page useful for a lost tool, a damaged stack, a test item or a small equipment correction. It is not a promise that every item from every mod can be created. A field that does not appear is a limitation to respect, not an invitation to edit unrelated XML by hand.
REALISTIC EXAMPLES Stardew Valley inventory editor examples and verification
For a quantity repair, write down the original stack size, import the copied save, select the item and change only the quantity. Download the result with the original filename, place it in a separate test folder and load the farm. Check the inventory slot, the total item count and any crafting or storage screen that depends on the item.
For an equipment change, confirm that the item belongs in the chosen slot before exporting. A weapon, ring, boot, tool or clothing item may have different fields and limits, and a modded item may include data the browser editor cannot preserve. Make one related change, save a copy and test it before you try another item.
If the editor shows an empty slot, that does not necessarily mean the save is broken. It may be a valid empty slot, an unsupported item representation or a field that needs to be edited from a different work area. Use the visible navigation and stop if the output does not load.
INPUT AND OUTPUT NOTES Inventory editor limits, errors and safe recovery
Invalid XML, older versions, console exports and heavily modded saves can fail before the inventory page opens. If that happens, return to the untouched folder, confirm the file path and test a supported copy rather than forcing the import.
If the edited farm does not load, close Stardew Valley, move the result out of the active save folder and restore the complete original farm folder. Do not keep changing a failing file. Repeat the workflow with a new copy and one supported field after you understand the original state.
SUPPORTED SCOPE What the inventory editor does not promise
The parser targets supported Stardew Valley 1.6 save XML, including compressed or plain file content that the browser can read. It does not promise compatibility with every older version, console export, malformed file or heavily modded save. Platform file access is separate from parsing, so a mobile device may let you choose a file only after you export it through a file manager.
A successful download means the browser created an output file; it does not guarantee that a particular item or quantity is valid for every game state. Keep a manual backup and test the exported farm before replacing the working file.

FAQ Stardew Valley inventory editor FAQ
What can the Stardew Valley inventory editor change?
The current inventory workspace can inspect item slots, add supported items by name, change stack quantities and edit equipment slots when the item type is valid for that slot.
Do I need to upload my save to use the inventory editor?
The normal workflow reads the selected file in your browser. The site does not require an account or a normal server upload to begin editing.
Can I edit an item quantity?
Supported object stacks can be selected in the inventory view and their quantity can be changed within the editor's input limits. Keep changes reasonable and test the exported copy first.
Does the inventory editor work with every modded save?
No. The parser targets supported Stardew Valley 1.6 save data. Mod-specific fields, malformed XML and older or console save formats may not be compatible.
